Frogs

I am grateful for the sounds of frogs in my garden pond. Such a wide variety of noises! Out of the corner of my eye I caught sight of a tiny brown striped one on a lotus leaf. But the biggest surprise was the large green one sheltering in my umbrella. Perhaps I won’t leave it in the carport to dry in future!
I am grateful for these creatures, and for the environment where they now flourish.

The frogs are back!

Evening drizzle brings such joy
frogs serenade in the garden pond

croak or crawk or pop
staccato rattling, a single tok
chirps, a bell or a motorbike
dog’s bark or cat’s mew
squelch or grating ark

symphony?
cacophony?
Not for the Eisteddfod
no recording job
but they’re welcome to sing
all night long
in my garden pond
